youTube vs Aroduc — Round 1 of 1

October 5th, 2007 by Aroduc

You may have noticed that the vast majority of the videos I like to post have become broken. I apologize. youTube didn’t actually deign to tell me anything… or even that my account had been suspended. I just logged on to see everything gone with every single video, including one of my dog from a year ago marked with “this video violates copyright laws and has been removed.” I doubt there’s much/anything I can do about it and I’m not even certain what the issue was honestly, but I’m kind of bummed about losing all the recordings of the games that I’ve made over the past year and a half and all the Danmakufu stuff as well, not to mention the combo videos. *sigh* I have one of them still on the HDD, but the rest are dead and buried now I suppose. I guess that’ll teach me not to… do whatever the hell I was doing. I guess that I’m just glad that I put off creating an index for them.

Don’t worry Arodoc, i am a YouTube Watcher but not a Uploader and you were not the only one who got wacked in fact youtube always does major whacks(wipeouts of entire viedos)every early friday morning of most of the major tiles every week with the same people just creating a new account and starting all over again, becuase after google took over they no longer give warning they just permentely supend the account,in fact i just had 6 other people get their accounts suspendented today, over the last few months i now of at least 100 different closed accounts, in fact i belive you were taken down becuase you had nanoha viedos, becuase i am a huge nanoha fan and i notice that at least 4 of the 6 had nanoha viedos and there gone and last week i lost all of my seto no hayayome but one guy just posted those back up earler this week, and i notice no one even bothers putting up hayate the combat butler becuase they check that one daily, as least in the next few days new accounts will be created so that i can watch the very beginning of the new shows that you were talking about this week and in fact some new ones were just subbed and were put on today, so not all hope is lost yet, but youtube is no longer the site we all remebered it to be!!!!!

You might be able to get your non-copyright-infringing ones back. They probably took them down due to a DMCA notice, and if so you can file a DMCA counter-notice for the videos you definitely own the copyright to to get them back. I understand it generally takes a few weeks, and I think you have to file it by snail mail or fax, but it might get some of the stuff that you can’t easily replace back. I’d contact them to ask about the videos you know weren’t really copyrighted by someone else to see what happened and go from there. I’m not a lawyer, but I’d say your gameplay videos are among the ones you can get back.

I’d suggest avoiding uploading any copyrighted clips with that account from now on though. :(

Aroduc says:

The problem there is

1. Identify the specific URLs of material that YouTube has removed or to which YouTube has disabled access. Include the username of your YouTube account as well.

I can’t get the URLs because I can’t log into my account at all, so I can’t provide them until the account is reactivated.

I think at this point, it’s easiest to just give up and start from scratch, making sure to keep the game and anime clips on seperate accounts.

longhaul says:

if you can try naming the clips in non english lettering, keep em confused since they most likely wont be able to read it

Aroduc says:

In case anybody’s curious… it was apparently because I uploaded the OP to Neuro.

You have got to be kidding me.

Now I’m just… flabbergasted I guess. Screw this noise.

[...] I kinda know how Aroduc felt when it happened to him too, albeit only a fraction of the [...]
