Sorta like when they got a mouth and talked to Kana in Episode 2 or 3 (the Banchou episode, IIRC)? That was freaky.

This one at least adds EYES and some of the face (showing how it’s blacked out), so it’s a bit less creepy. Now just seeing a mouth open up on a black face, that’s disturbing.

It didn’t really bother me until they gained facial features and started actually being moving parts of the world instead of more or less static background.

… and I think I referenced the Uncanny Valley on Jason’s blog a few weeks back, didn’t I? It’s less freaky here, since they have eyes – unlike the second episode where you just had a bunch of faceless figures with hair staring at Kana and company.

Yes, the trap worked well… as did Touma somehow getting more chocolates than anyone but Fujioka, whose not-bad looks, sports skills, and fixation on Kana make him a pretty safe bet for getting a lot of gifts. Of course, Kana staring at him because he didn’t bring her chocolates (if I understood it right) was hilarious given how the other girls were reacting to it.

That, and Mako-chan’s response to the ‘what boy do you like’ question. ;)
