Scarlet Weather Rhapsody — The New Blood (On Fire!)
May 31st, 2008
Alright, now I’m done.
Just a quick 90 second compilation of the four newbies in Scarlet Weather Rhapsody and some of the combos you should learn to know and love. I limited myself to not using any skill cards or particularly weird extenders (Komachi’s delayed wisps for example). I also tried to avoid the silly AAAA (delay) ABC combos and their slight variants that every character has, though I really don’t like using Reisen so… well… whatever. *shrug*

Combos:
0:11 (Tenshi) — AA 2B 9 j.2B 3 j.A AA 2B 623C
An extremely powerful Tenshi combo. Her 2B is pretty much the basis of all her ground linkers, but the j.A linker makes this one especially nasty, if also a bit difficult to pull off. I wish I could take credit for finding it, but I think that belongs to Sibladeko or at least one of the maintainers of the SWR wiki.
0:16 (Suika) — Counter Spellcard Glitch
Silly Suika. I couldn’t get it to activate with Komachi or Reisen (and I’m pretty sure Iku and Tenshi have no attacks that can activate it), so that’s why this is the only clip without the newbies.
0:18 (Reisen) — [C] 236C 236C 214C
I really don’t like using Reisen much, but her 236B/C and C really are nice and combo into themselves usually so they’re easy damage. Also, I was bound and determined to find something that the eyebeams could combo into.
0:22 (Komachi) — j.2B 66 j.2A A 2B 8 6A
Because of how quickly recovery times are reduced, Komachi doesn’t usually have too many options if she leads in with the coins. They are there if you look though.
0:26 (Iku) — j.[B] 66 j.B 66 j.A AA 2B 2C 214B
Another lead-in combo. Iku’s lightning spawns much closer to her body on the 2B, so despite the fewer hits, it’s generally a better overall linker.
0:33 (Reisen) — AAA B 9 j.A j.6A C
Just a relatively simple Reisen BnB. Nothing really special honestly.
0:38 (Tenshi) — j.B 66 j.A AA 2B C 623C
This combo does about as much as the first Tenshi one, and you’ll probably get to use it a lot more since Tenshi’s drill Bs cut through most projectiles with ease.
0:43 (Iku) — 2B C 8 66 j.A 236B
A basic Iku combo you can do almost anywhere, and even blocked, because the C splits into 4 shots while you’re jumping back over to them, it can catch your opponent off guard.
0:48 (Komachi) — j.A AAA 623C 8 j.6A
Komachi’s specials really don’t chain well into her attacks. 623 does in the corner though. It doesn’t really do that much more damage than her straight up AAAA, but it keeps the pressure up on a blocking opponent better than AAAA.
0:53 (Tenshi) — AAA 2B 22C
I did this combo a little off from the corner, but it and slight variations are some of Tenshi’s better block string combos to keep the pressure.
0:58 (Reisen) — j.A AAA C 236B 236C 8 j.6A
Your basic Reisen corner combo. Reisen’s really better at mid range stuff than close up to be honest.
1:03 (Iku) — j.A AA B 6C 623B
This is a really neat combo because the B whiffs at the start, then because the 6C is so far, the B catches up. It’s the usual B -> C progression for ranged stuff to focus fire and cover a melee approach, but it’s pretty rare to start it in the middle of a combo. This combo can also be done anywhere, so it should be a standard in Iku’s game.
1:08 (Komachi) — j.2B 66 j.A AAAA BC
Not much to say. Komachi’s basic lead-in combo plus a boat at the end.
1:14 (Tenshi) — AA 2B 9 j.2B 3 j.A BC
Just a variation on that first Tenshi combo with a great big Tenshi rock drop at the end.
