I’m not sold on that idea. He mentioned controlling their powers through them, and for most (especially the clairvoyants/doll users/etc), that makes sense, but then he used Kaoru’s little TK energy gathering trick himself.

Also, they’ve got Hotaru and Kyosuke around who are both supposedly pretty powerful telepaths. You’d think one of them would have come up with the power leech trick at some point.

Then again, wouldn’t shock me to just be inconsistent writing either. ^^

Grisham himself mentions that high level telepaths can take the abilities of nearby espers. Guess it’s not really a red herring, just a little bonus ability.
