I totally agree with fang-tan, ringo is showing inocent and childish behaviours, she is much cuter when she does it ( better than other anime kids were they all big all of a sudden), while the show is much similar to Cyborg 005, I think its on of the best show 2008, it is more phsycological and slice of life.

Well this is nothing like the old Kyashan at all.

[watch out spoiler ahead]

In the old serie Kyashan and Luna fought together an army of robot that were destroying mankind for the sake of... restoring nature

Now, years after we have a devasted world where human are no more, and robots fight among themselves. Kyashan is there doing what exactly? Killing his old girlfriend to find a younger one? LOL! I couldn't stand a new serie without Luna. Little robot-chan doesnt seem to me an even pairing XD

A robot baby ate my dingo.

...

It's not all sci fi really, just the stuff that gets really wrapped up in itself, which I don't really like much in any genre for that matter, but it tends to get especially bad in sci fi. I love Vandread, Dual and will admit at least some fondness for Outlaw Star, but those are all character driven shows instead of letting the setting or the gimmick carry them. So much sci fi uses its sceience as a license to just basically be magic, only with 30 extra lines of technobabble accompanying it and even less internal consistency than a magical setting.

Science fiction also tends to heavily lean towards dystopian views of the future, except for, say... Star Trek. Even if it's not all out collapse, it's invariably tinged with cyncism, class struggles, poverty and depression. Aside from the generally homogenous nature of the setting that that creates (if you're generous with the definition there), it brings the focus off of the characters in favor of making a static (and likely uninteresting anyway) setting that it unlike anything comparable to the audience's own.

Mecha in particular have their own litany of problems as far as I'm concerned.

To each his own taste, but really... what is it about Sci-Fi that you specifically loathe? Allegedly.... Sounds like some vendetta or something, but by all means, please explain besides Gundam and amnesia, as I know where you're coming from with those two.

I think you're being a little over sensitve regarding the little girl. Did you really think they were going for "panty-shots" rather than simply showing a child, wearing children's clothing, at play? Regardless, I thought she was cute.
