Yozakura Quartet #05 — Saving Up For Next Week

October 30th, 2008

Do not pass go, do not ever get those 20 minutes of your life back.

Impressions:

Good lord was this episode a waste of time. Watch up to the half-vampire girls chewing on Kyosuke and then skip to the last 2 minutes or so and all you’ll miss is a 3 second exchange of energy blasts between the combat nun and Enjin. Hell, if you don’t care about vampire kiddies, you can just skip right to the big finale. Basically the entire episode is Ao just showing how nice of a person you can be when you cheat at Old Maid read the minds of small children to know what they want. Nobody cares about Junta. We’re probably never going to see him or his erstwhile family ever again, they had no relation to Enjin or anybody at all.

On the other hand, I did learn that apparently ‘lifting’ is the Japanese term for soccer juggling. That’s really all I took from this episode, aside from the revelation that Ao is sleeping with Kotoha, although it may be the first one where nobody ate any ramen. Hime and Kyosuke did share some taiyaki though, and… of course… Kyosuke’s blood is better than a juice box. At least next week looks to be that Kotoha episode I wanted. I’m not really expecting too much from the Enjin/Ao cliffhanger since Ao seems to have no actual combat abilities to speak of… and neither of them are anywhere in the preview either. At least we’ll get to see Kotoha spar with Hime though. I’m pretty sure the AA gun is pushing it.

Preview:

Unlimited Kotoha Works.

Ah… that fun little showdown.. hint if I remember right and I’m not mixing it up with another little tangle…
it’s Hime’s fault. :D
Generally speaking this seems to be following the manga though some things are advancing faster than others (as far as I know Ao still doesn’t know about Gin)…
