Gonzo made some of the most awful anime I've ever seen (goddamn Burst Angel was a piece of shit) but that doesn't mean I'm going to be completely prejudiced over every single thing they animate. In terms action choreography, it's probably the closest the series has ever gotten to looking like an action series. However, I'll agree that the stylistic changes were over the top.
