In fairness to digital downloads, it could be that Gonzo is failing more because their shows are terrible rather than as a direct result of their business model.

Too long, didn’t read.

I sorta, kinda agree with Gonzo stuff, but they’re very well in the business still. They shouldn’t have tried messing with the DVD sales and whatnot though. But the stream stuff, they can work out the kinks eventually. It’s only been a year. Give it time.

I like the spread, both images and topics. Do people really say that bloggers talking about episodes of anime hurt ‘the community’? I’ve not seen it, but I guess people do debate the editorial vs episodic, nothing new, but somewhat pointless. Balance is a good necessity.

Pretty much agree with your points. I’ve yet to form my full opinion on JP-EN titles, but I’d like to see less romanji, more kanji or meaningful English titles used [in blogging at least]. Retagging and changing names in posts may be a hassle.

Umm I still blog some raws but when you say “no one picks on raw bloggers or they don’t react” I think you musta forgotten about me. I got tired of hearing bullshit and then I realized I don’t really care to blog EVERY EPISODE EVERY WEEK (especially when its just sooo bad) that I stopped doing that. (This is particularly an issue with Clannad.) However there are some shows that make me laugh (in a good or bad way) every week so I continue the weekly blogging.

I don’t think Omni is a good example anymore because he’s got real life stuff now and the only people who blog on RC are Divine and Trillian (?) now. It’s turned into an episode summary mill. At least you & Totali still put your own effort into doing it heh ^^;

As far as titles go, I dunno “The hills are collored like the madder flowers” sounds so much stupider than just Akaneiro ni Somaru Saka lol. I think for me it just varies but if I see someone writing “KURANADO EPISODE 3″ I have to slap them silly

And about the localization, I thought that the companies will start broadcasting anime online in a format of pay-per-view an episode.

Happy Holidays! On that note, are you Canadian? It seems kind of odd to be reporting on that whole tidbit.
And yes, it is the North American fanbase that causes localization problems. Have you seen the undub versions of games? Persona 4 comes to mind, along with Tales of the Abyss. They aren’t that bad. Neither is the anime.
