Chrome Shelled Regios #02 — Misogyny 101
January 17th, 2009
Layfon, you are already ready for the advanced lecture.
Impressions:
Nowhere near as much fun as last week’s episode, but I still enjoyed it overall. Granted, I was laughing quite a bit at all the misogyny in the show. Layfon trades away his love love lunch to another woman for her lunch, manages to piss off 50% of his harem, and one of Koyasu’s secretary’s jobs is to hold his phone to his head for him. This is truly an enlightened time for women and giant insects. I’m glad that the reporter trio barely had any screentime this episode. I was worried about the non-combatants eating up an inordinate amount of time, but if their only role is going to be some quasi-lesbian antics, that’s cool with me.
Most of the episode was spent on fleshing out Nina in general, with special attention paid to her angsting over being protected in the past and then being rejected. Of course, this is immediately followed by a mock fight of capture the flag (more like, beat each other up) against her old squadron. Layfon performed relatively terribly until Felli transmitted Nina’s trauma to Layfon and he went predictably berserk and Hurricane Punched everybody into oblivion, ticking off Nina and Felli. Women. First they beat you up, then they get ticked off when you prevent some other guy from hitting them wtih tonfas. I can’t understand it either.
I’ll be sticking with this one… not like there’s much of a decision to be made here since Saturdays are completely void of anything else at all, aside from maybe a very late night ZKC. It’s nowhere near the greatest thing I’ve ever seen, but I’m getting some chuckles out of it and it’s so much better of an RPG than Tales of the Abyss has turned out to be. More random encounters! Less technobabble exposition!
Oh, and the OP is rather amusing in a peculiar way. First, endless staticy clones. Second, overanimated montage of everybody flying around with DBZ auras.

“Layfon, you are already ready for the advanced lecture.”
I think it should be “Layfon, you should be the one teaching them advance lessons.”
Nina was probably pissed to find out he was holding back all this time and made her feel like a fool.As for Felli, I don’t even know why she’s mad at all.I mean come on, I know her role is for logistics only but I felt all she did was just stand there reading peoples thoughts rather than giving relevant combat information to assist them.I do admit that this episode was fairly slow, nothing really happens much for the first 3/4 but I still liked it overall. So does anyone know if this is a 12-13 episode series just for the winter?
