I'm not keen on sports anime in general either. I tried getting into Eyeshield 21 but just couldn't and I didn't even want to go near Prince of Tennis. But I tried Hajime no Ippo, and found it to be a real treat. It's full of great moments and keeps you wanting more (which is why I'm glad there's a new season). It's worth at least giving it a try, who knows? it might surprise you. You should really pick up the first series and start watching it. I’m not keen on sports anime in general either.
