Minami-ke: Welcome Back #03 — Food Related Crises
January 18th, 2009
Yes, that is indeed the plural of crisis.
Impressions:
Well, I suppose you have to have a dud every now and then. Pretty much all four segments were extremely boring. The fourth one was probably the best, but only for Natsuki’s violent rule over the other Minami household. The main problem is that the main joke for each segment was extremely predictible. The punchline is sitting right there, ready to be made, but things get strung along for 15, 30, 60 seconds until I’m shaking the laptop and swearing at the dogs. Interestingly, still no Makoto, or almost anybody else outside of the other Minami family. I don’t think there’s been a single shot of anybody at school yet who isn’t Hosaka or being stalked by Hosaka.
So anyway, Touma runs off from her family because her brother ate her pudding… so there’s another pudding shortage at the Minami’s. Shock. Uchida brings over apples, but gets an icy reception. She sees abox in the corner and after much lurking, discovers that it’s filled with… apples. Part 3 was them taking random bits from Haruka’s phone conversation and just, well… doing things or teasing each other based on them, ending with the creation of curry cookies. Part four was more pudding theft followed by language puns on omelets. Hopefully next week will be better.
In other news, I think I’m just going to leave Maria†Holic to Totali. I didn’t like this week’s episode at all, and there’s just too much else going on on Sundays for me to keep up with it with any amount of regularity. That should let me settle on Minami and Slayers as the Sunday shows with Casshen and the terrible raws going, well… whenever.
