Tales of the Abyss #15 — The Treaty
January 10th, 2009
I’m all out of wit tonight.
Impressions:
Oh yeah, this show. Nearly forgot about it.
Well, considering that I played through about 80% of this episode 2 days ago and pretty much all of it was a word for word transcription (without even taking a break to clear the Arena in between), I certainly could have been more entertained. Natalia got back with her father after that two episode trial seperation, and everybody learned that Hod was pretty much going to be destroyed by just about everybody, so Guy can finally redirect his general Hod-rage at Van finally. The Asch-Natalia scene was pretty well done, but again, scene for scene and line for line from the game, and even then, Asch really shouldn’t be preaching to anybody about keeping their promises. Also, showing Luke spinning around into darkness in surprise when Van was revealed as the puppet master… that was perhaps the worst thing I’ve seen this adaptation do to date.
Oh well, at least next week should be finally getting out of the morass of this middle portion and back to fighting the God-Generals. Sync’s up first with the others soon to follow. I do find it amusing to note that by this point in the game, pretty much all of Malkuth except the capital has already been forcibly lowered, which makes the whole treaty thing a bit weird. Was Kimlasca planning on sending troops into the muck? Or thinking that Malkuth had developed a weapon that they tested by destroying 80% of their continent? Whatever. Again… I can finally see a few rays of daylight as we should hopefully get back to some action here.
Preview:
The God-Generals return with a vengeance.

I personally thought the Symphonia anime was worse because of the horrific drama. Lloyd’s emoing was really a pain in the butt, so I’ll take script re-use over that any day. D:
Luke swirling into the darkness made me laugh. That was so bad that it was awesome. :’DDDDDD
I thought the thing with Natalia and her dad was adorable, too. I mean, they’re reusing a lot of stuff right from the game, but that’s better than them making up new and possibly really cheesy lines instead… right?
