Goku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei #03 — Lose/Lose Situation

February 18th, 2009

Only because it’s over.

Impressions:

Man, where’d these bloody OVAs come from today? Oh well, this was an excellent episode, so I’m not complaining. I was a little disappointed that the third and final part of this OVA series had none of the class in it, barring a loli Kafuka. It was strange to see Itoshiki as… well… not optimistic, but only learning about the art of negativity from the Negative Club. It’d have been nice to end with the whole class all together. Then again, if they plan to make more, there’s not much to complain about on that front. It could have used more Chiri Chri, but what couldn’t?

Part 1 was the class telling a variety of ‘ghost’ stories for the 100 stories myth/game. It was pretty undirected, but the ghost stories were all relatively amusing. Kafuka’s boin/bomb was my personal winner. Part two was about lose/lose situations, like nerds competing over a waitress who’ll choose neither, or arguing over yaoi fan pairings that will never come true. Kafuka’s win/win twist was pretty predictible, but at least they kept the jokes coming rapid fire. The final part was a flashback to Itoshiki being forcibly recruited into the Negative Club where he’s taught the art of negativity before accidently kidnapping loli Kafuka.

I’m also pretty sure that the festival dance interstitial was just there to eat up the extra 45 seconds or so they had.

Wait a minute – loli Kafuka? How old IS she, if she’s around when Itoshiki’s a student? He didn’t seem that young, at least not compared to the rest of the class he’s teaching. Mind you, anything that brings more Ai Kaga in can’t be all bad… or, for that matter, the loli-psycho. :D

Nozomu always seemed in his mid-late 20’s to me…
