Tears to Tiara #04 — Giant Enemy Crabs

April 26th, 2009

And sex toys. Mostly sex toys.

I’m tired of waiting for a decent raw.

Also, I’m somewhat itchy, but I guess that’s neither here nor there.

Impressions:

And here’s most of the rest of Arawn’s harem. One more wife, two more sex toys. Sadly, the (eventual) new wife is Ermin. Epona and Limwris are forever stuck at dutch wife status. At least Epona sells you equipment. Limwris is just some plushy thing to sleep with whenever Arawn gets bored.

Amusingly, after I was complaining a bit about all the mystery they were making about Pwyll (remembering that he’s in the bloody OP), this episode started off with him and Arawn chatting and they were all over making sure everybody knew that Arthur was Pwyll’s descendant this week. We even got the first hints of Arthur’s hatred for the Holy Spirits a bit ahead of time. I’m not complaining though. This portion of the game drags quite a bit as they go out hunting about 18 times in a row before anything else important happens. First boars, then crab, then more boars, then more crab, then sea elves… well… you get the picture.

All in all though, just a slow episode mostly focusing on the backstory of the whole elf thing as well as introducing some future plot points that’ll be more important eventually. I’m a little sad that they didn’t show the fight against the CG crabs, but then I remember that they’d be fighting CG crabs and think that we probably came out of it just fine.

Brief Summary:

After Morgan professes her disbelief in elves and cowers from some birds, they arrive at a castle shrouded in fog. Arawn offers Arthur a choice, to keep running, or to stay here and make this their home and fight for it. Arthur chooses fighting. Duh. Arawn commands the gates open, and they find a pair of elves inside. The busty one is Limwris and the mentally handicapped loli is Ermin. After greeting Ogam (all the bitches love Ogam), they realize who Arawn is and are a bit stunned. Learning that Arthur and Riannon are Pwyll’s descendants is icing.

Limwris shows the main group around while the rest of Gael squats in the abandoned buildings. The Holy Spirits come up in the conversation and Arthur gets pissy to the point of storming off. Morgan explains that Arthur’s father was killed in front of him by a Holy Spirit shrouded in white light. I wonder who that could be.

Arthur and Arawn are exploring a building that appears to be an abandoned shop. When Arthur tries to take a spear, a magical glyph activates and paralyzes them. The storekeeper, Epona, shows up and beats them before realizing that it really is Arawn. Epona later takes them all out hunting for crabs with a special whistle. Morgan blows it extra hard and summons a giant swarm of EVIL CG CRABS.

After the slaughter and subsequent feasting, Arawn wanders up to a grave on a cliff. Riannon follows him and tells him a sun legend as they watch the sunset. Arawn tells her that he actually has spoken with the person in that legend before wandering back to the camp.

A fleet of ships sails around with Gaius at the prow.

1.Ermin looks MUCH better than her PC version
    2. Limwris doesn’t, it doesn’t give the whole elf feel, just humany generic feel
3.Riannon looks fine, and Morgan looks better
    4. Arthur looks like a pimp
    5. What they subtrated from Arawn’s chin, they added to his eyebrows.
6.Epona doesn’t really have much difference.
7.If my memory is correct, then Epona was not a dutch wife, technically, cause the string represented her marriage, so she’s technically a wife, and so is Limwris, technically, when Epona says how shes jealous of Limwris and Ermin, because they were also Arawn’s wives… which still puzzles me about how she knew… wasn’t it supposed to be secret?
    8. By far, I can’t wait until Octavia comes…

  • Aroduc says:

Ermin is no longer wearing a giant cowbell. That also helps.

Also, the red string didn’t actually do anything… and that doesn’t take into account the tentacle beast she summoned and Arawn’s subsequent… comforting.

  • ximpa says:

Epona has a different hinted relationship (but not overly stated) in the PS3 game, with someone else. I’m wondering if they’ll show that in the anime.

  • chad001 says:

No offense ximpa, but I rEALLY didn’t want to know that… yet another reason I didn’t bother buying a ps3

    • ximpa says:

      The reason being?

      • chad001 says:

Because it comepletely ruins the Epona x Arawn thing… and ppl tend to dislike it when a character has a past relationship. Look at Nagi from Kannagi, and Rorona from Atelier… perfect statistic references…

      • ximpa says:

Well, you should get used to it, this anime is not based on the PC game (as clearly stated in the opening). If you’re expecting a copy of the PC version, you’re bound to get disappointed.
For me, that’s not the case. Save a few details they’ve been pretty faithful to the PS3 version, and I’m satisfied with that.

  • Damen28 says:

So now Arawn’s Harem has a higher count than the number of episodes.
Honestly, the guy picks up wives like the Japanese catch colds.

Arawn oversleeps and picks up a wife. Arawn stays out at night and picks up a wife. He travels and picks up a few more.

Satan and accidental pimp… got to love this show

  • mangaka-chan says:

I for one don’t really care who’s in the harem or what game (PC vs PS3) the anime is going to be based since I’m coming into this de novo. So far things are still looking quite interesting, and I notice Arawn seems to be concerned about Arthur’s feelings towards his elven lineage. Wonder if that might have something to do with the murder of Arthur’s father.

  • lubczyk says:

Wouldn’t mistress be a more accurate term rather than Dutch Wife? It’s so undignified for LORD Arawn!!!

  • Honoo says:

Is it just me or did anyone think they saw a brown-haired Kohaku?
