Asura Cryin’ #07 — Flashback… What a Feeling
May 14th, 2009
Haven’t I used that subtitle before? Oh well.
Impressions:
Honestly not the most compelling of episodes, but after they went to town last week, it’s understandable. About half of it was a flashback where we learn that a few years ago, everybody’s faces were really badly distorted, but mostly pretty round and fat. You also hadn’t forsaken skirts yet in the past, and 7Arcs made sure to sneak one panty shot in for those of you keeping track of such things. I don’t think I like that every single important member of the cast except Takatsuki was part of that plane crash, and they didn’t show a single bit of what happened with Misao and Tomo in the wreckage either, so it’s a pretty safe bet that we’ll be seeing yet more of it in the future… past… future past… whatever.
Very little interesting stuff otherwise either. You thinks she saved Yukari, Shuri thinks that she’s Yukari, but neither of them has yet to make a compelling case for me to care one way or the other about who is who. Maybe the real Shuri ate babies and that’s why it’s important that everybody wants to make sure that they are/saved Yukari. They didn’t really do anything interesting with Misao either. Ghost apparently aren’t normal in the world, as she freaked out a bunch of school kids by floating through a pole, but the high school seems to have taken to her without any issues, leaving Tomo with a bit of empty nest syndrome. Misao’s quick to comfort him stick her arm through his stomach in some kind of strange bonding ritual to head off any potential angst over that at the pass.
At least it did end on a bit of a cliffhanger, with President Doofus’ forces apparently about to attack Takatsuki. Hopefully they’ll be building on her and her powers soon a little bit better than they’ve dealt with Shuri’s past so far. For all we know about it now, I’m still not entirely certain why we’re supposed to care.

Hey, don’t forget they upped the Fabulous level by one.
Because I’m sure that’s the important part of the episode.
