Fight Ippatsu! Juuden-chan!! #01 — Torrential Golden Showers

June 25th, 2009

I bet you think I’m being cute.

New Season Disclaimer:

I try to watch at least the first episode of every new show in a season. However, do not expect anything I say to be fair or balanced. I value my own entertainment above all else and there are some genres or methods of presentation that I just plain do not like and I’m not going to pretend otherwise. I’ll attempt to at least make a cursory explaination of what did and did not please me about each show, but it’s just a simple fact of life that my tastes are mine alone. Feel free to express your own opinions in the comments, just keep it under control. This is just television after all.

Impressions:

If you selectively cut out about 90 seconds of this show, it really wouldn’t be offensive to anybody and I’d even go so far as to call it a pretty entertaining episode, if for no other reason than Sento physically assaulting Plug constantly. Not to sound overly misogynist, but it’s nice to see an equal opportunity male ready and willing to beat the crap out of a magical girl for peeping on him or trying to electrocute his sister. I’ve always endorsed combining violence and magical girls anyway… it’s just usually the magical girls are the ones doing the beating.

However, those 90 seconds are there. Plug pisses herself. Plug pisses herself a lot. Every time Sento’s about to hit her, you get a nice closeup of her thighs and a golden torrent gushing forth. Except for the time when Plug started watching a television show about a tentacle monster whipping a magical girl… who pisses herself.

There’s a lot of urine in this episode.

A lot.

Outside from that though, there really wasn’t any more fanservice than you’d expect in your run of the mill bad fanservice show, but certainly paling in comparison to Queen’s Blade, Kanokon and their ilk. It’s also helped by the fact that while Sento’s a fan of the skintight suit, his first reaction to Plug flashing her panties in his face was to club her with a baseball bat. That’s the kind of male reaction to bad fanservice that I can get behind. The transformation scene that comprised about 95% of the promo video wasn’t used at all (thankfully). As for the rest of the production, I thought the music was horrid (although the OP is catchy, despite the nipple rocks), but everything else was solid. The story was almost straight out of the Karin playbook, only substitute little sister for mother and throw in a near-suicide.

So… I’m not really sure where I stand so far. If they took out the urine and extraneous tentacle raping, but left in the violence against Plug, this would be perfectly watchable. Somewhere below Dokuro-chan for number of braincells required and level of intelligence, but there’s nothing wrong with a popcorn show. I really have no idea yet. I can’t deny that it made me laugh quite a bit, but almost all of that was due to Sento’s proclivity for violence against idiotic magical girls. If not for that, I don’t think I’d care to even give this a second glance, and the first third or so of the episode is pretty much just a blur.

Ugh. I guess I have to give this one more, although given that the preview was about 99% naked showering, I’m expecting the entertaining violence to drop while the urine quotient stays the same. I certainly wouldn’t hold it against anybody if they were sent running for the hills though. Maybe the DVD version will cut out all the urine and replace it with relax-o-vision. That’d certainly make it about 10 times more watchable.

Boobs. But at least there was no urine.

Great. So first Queen’s Blade does the “girls pissing themselves” thing, and now so does this show. Obviously somebody finds it hot, though I just find it terribly creepy.

    Pass on this one.

  • Anonymous says:

Been waiting for a mindless fan service show. Hopefully this one will actually have some laughs in it to go along with the breasts.

  • Yue says:

After watching Dokuro~chan and Pipi-piru-pipi-rupi, I’ll welcome this series as long as it’s for comic relief and doesn’t go physically abusive like it was in Kurokami.

The bat the hit Kuro wasn’t funny, it’s gut~wrenching.

  • Anonymous says:

jesus christ, I really need to learn to stop reading the shit you all post and instead just look at the pictures (which is what these blogs are for anyway)

  • The Phantom says:

I hate magic girl shows and despise fanservice, I cant stand shows like this one, *discarded to the trash can*.

    • Yue says:

Oh my lord… after seeing the first episode, I take back my word. This series is not work~safe and not funny either. Vote this one out. ~_~

  • Irie says:

Didn’t last 10 minutes. Magic Girl series is tough to sit through.

  • Der says:

The girl-beats-the-crap-out-of-guy-for-accidentally-peeping-on-her joke was never funny (not even before it became overused). And this show proves that it isn’t funny with the roles switched, either.

  • Lero says:

Is this a cross over of Jubei.chan+ KissxSis??

  • Anon999 says:

Oh god, another bad magical girl show.

  • Albedo says:

Can’t wait until it gets depressing like all ecchi anime do eventually.

  • ItAintEazy says:

Majikaru gyaru give prozac electric shock treatment to unsuspecting yanderes and emo cases.

Yep, a solid premise to work from!

  • Boy63 says:

And in the end, isn’t that what we want from our learners? ,
