Princess Lover! #06 — Dirty Ping Pong
August 9th, 2009
I mean that they cheat, you perverts.
Sorry, my presence is mandatory at a party tonight for my newly engaged sister. If I don’t get these done now, I may not get them done until tomorrow. You’ll survive the LQ.
Impressions:
Well, apparently Go Hands still has some budget left, as they decided to blow the first minute on the best animated sequence since the first episode about magical girl Maria fighting some monster. The entire introduction sequence (which was pretty lengthy) was actually pretty silly and really out of the norm for this show. Both Teppei and Snot were breaking the fourth wall constantly. The shot of Seika using a metro card like some kind of genius idol while Charlotte and Sylvia hopped around like chimps around the monolith was also worth a chuckle.
Teppei’s ‘party’ ended up being a retreat to the hot springs, and this show is nowhere near creative enough to do anything overly creative with that. The guys all wanted to peep on the girls, the maid was traumatized by not getting to share a room with her master, the small chested girl was traumatized by the giant breasts in the bath, and the roaming giant white blobs were EVERYWHERE. It wasn’t even a half-assed attempt to pretend it was fog. They were just giant floating white… things. Not that the cheesecake shots of these grotesquely proportioned women would be all that more attractive without the rampant censorship.
All in all, it wasn’t really that bad of an episode, and it was significantly more enjoyable than the last couple episodes… but it was still completely different in tone, style, and delivery than the last five episodes. Even Sylvia wasn’t opposed to flaunting her sexual appeal to counter-cheat Teppei at ping pong. It was full of parodies, most notably the magical girl sequence and a short Kaiji sequence later. The "Teppei is so awesome" scene between the girls at the end was excessively corny, but I’ll forgive it this time. That was really the only thing of note to happen this episode anyway, aside from maybe wrapping up this whole Teppei/party arc finally.
Well, this has gone on far longer than it needed to. It was entertaining, so I’m pleased… but it’s also nothing like the last five episodes, so I’m kind of also annoyed at the potential wasted, or alternatively, a likely imminent return to the angsty drama with the obligatory rival parachuting in next episode… literally.

The rival appears.
