More malfunction, less wardrobe.

Impressions:

A fairly dull episode even by Hidamari standards, although much more plot driven (to loosely use the word) than usual. The first half was about Yuno accidentally tearing Miyako’s uniform and the various trial and tribulations to go fix it, while the second half was Yuno searching everywhere for her lost sketchbook. There were also a suspiciously large number of males in this series, especially for a show that’s gone some 25 episodes or so and attempted to avoid showing them as much as possible. Not only were they ogling Miyako here, but a teacher walked in on Yuno and Miyako changing. Where’d that come from?

Aside from that, there’s not too much else to say. There were a couple weird production decisions this time that stood out, like Yuno’s hair wildly blowing around in the middle of the classroom, but I generally assume that Shaft’s animators are drunk anyway. We probably could have done without the recap of the first half in the second half, or listening to the art lecture too. Yuno’s sarape was also rather… uh… let’s say fetching for now. One would also have thought that Yoshinoya would jump at the chance to partially disrobe Yuno and Miyako and put them in something more interesting, but she was pretty much just a normal laidback teacher for most of the episode. More’s the pity.
