KIDDY GiRL-AND #03 — Sakura’s Stick
October 29th, 2009
You’re not being subtle, gimik.
Impressions:
Not a particularly good episode, and nowhere near as funny as last week’s. The Card Captor Sakura spoof was worth a chuckle or two, but the rest of it was painfully cliche. We did get a short introduction to one of the new pairs of characters, Trixie and Troyes, but we didn’t really learn anything except that Troyes likes CCS and everybody wants to get into Troyes’ pants. They did sort of show Q’s power for the first time, but I really doubt psychic searching is all that she’s got. Outside of that, it was just your typical "buddy fight" episode, complete with totally machinated minor crisis to pull them together and make one call the other a tsundere. By about the 3rd minute of the episode, it was obvious how the rest would go and we never deviated from that even slightly.
Next week does look like it’ll get better and maybe start having some kind of plot… or at the very least, a slight return to action. Then again, they are going to be bodyguards for a little girl, so unless she’s secretly a laser cannon, I imagine at least that segment will be fairly annoying. Hopefully they’ll just get to the actual guarding and ignore the body.
Preview:
Kill the little girl. Do it now.

I’ve yet to see more than the first few minutes of the ED (are you actually in Japan?), but that’s enough to know that “Sakura” was actually voiced by Yui Makino.
