Yeah, it's a slow going story and meant mostly as a "feel-good" kind of anime/manga, but from what I know about it, there's something a bit more mysterious going around behind the scenes. Judging by some of the events they decided to keep in the anime I'm assuming that they've kept some or most, if not all of that aspect. Oh, I’m not too sure about that, Kobato has it’s surprises, in my opinion.
