Hey, Sawako wasn’t cheered up because Kazehaya was male, she was cheered up because he doesn’t avoid her and treats her like a normal person.
As for hearts and flowers everywhere, I don’t see how you could watch shoujo and not see it a mile away. It’s sort of required fare, yo.

Wallflower => Reaching for You. Well, actually I like the character style in Reaching You more, but that’s about it. I’m gonna keep with it even though it’s probably every cheesy plot I’ve seen before but goddamnit I’ll have my slice of cake and eat it too.

As much as I hate shoujo, and I hate to say this, I did enjoy the first couple of chapters of the manga prior to the forced drama and romance. This was mostly due to Sadako’s character though. I thought I’d give this show a shot too. However, Sadako being voiced by Noto although likely fitting is far too boring for me to enjoy. So I’m passing on this.
