The Sacred Blacksmith #02 — Pacemaker

This show needs one,

Impressions:

Just a quick note to pop in and say that this episode was awful and I’m out. If you thought the monster standing around while Luke cast his spell was bad, it took another 90 seconds of Luke and the monster staring at each other before they attacked each other, and then we sat there listening to Lisa explain Luke’s sword for another two minutes, until the beasty shot some icicles. FINALLY at about 8 minutes into the episode, Luke killed the monster and we finally made it to the same place that we were one minute into episode one. Then Cecily’s breastplate exploded and she beat up Luke for the proper hilarious ending to that ordeal. I think I took more offense at the abject impossibility of wearing metal armor against skin than the godawful juvenile humor. Sadly, things somehow managed to get worse from there, all but dropping Cecily and Luke for about five minutes. Instead, we got to watch people sitting around a table talking about generic magical bad mojo. Yeah, demons, volcano, evil, got it. Great. Bloody great.

So the action got worse, the pacing stayed terrible, and the only interesting thing happened in the final 3 seconds of the episode. I’m tapping out. Good luck for those that decide to continue.

Epic fantasy adventures usually fail at translating into anime. I can’t say I’m shocked to see how this show is playing out.

  • Rosa says:

Well I like it, its a shame this blogger always has something bad to say about every anime he/she’s ever watched, I’ve noticed that alot here. I just come for the picture :3

  • Yue says:

Oh, the horror… good production values going down the drain due to lapse in directing. Oh well. ~_~

  • sora says:

that… was… painful… to… watch. However, i will finish watching in the name of Aroduc!!!!

  • sora says:

no offense or anything but Aroduc is a GIRL!? O.O

  • Ruby says:

LOL what you said in your impressions was funny hahaha. This episode looks interesting :D

  • Irie says:

Have to say this was really bad. I personally enjoy this genre but unless they plan on airing 26 episodes this was very poorly paced. What happened to all that energy from the first episode. I will watch in hopes it will improve but the show probably lost a boat load of viewers after this week.

Forgot to mention. The production seems to have droppped a bit. Almost like two different groups handling the secondary story line. I guess this is a minor point considering the lack of action this week.

  • Travis says:

Oh, for Record of Lodoss War-

And don’t try to disillusion me, I know that it’s got the story of your average d&d game. I still love the hell out of it.

  • yoyotop says:

Ever thought of doing your own anime Aroduc?
hmmm? what? I thought so :D

  • Ali says:

Usually I dont agree with the shows you drop and your interpretations of the them. This time I got to agree with you, you should drop this show. Its sucks plain and simple.

  • passer-by says:

I lol at Icicle Fall -Easy-

And honestly, the manga was better. At least it didn’t seem like the monster was just watching the guy reform his blade. Oh wait, I think it was something along the lines of the red-head taking the hits from Icicle Fall while the guy reformed his blade. Yar.

  • Solaris says:

Hey but there was an Icicle Fall! It was awesome! It reminded me of ⑨!
