Kämpfer #11 — Bättle Dämage Power Up

Ode to joy!

Impressions:

What? It’s over? That’s not an ending! But it’s okay, because I was laughing my ass off through the last five minutes of the show. Even now, it’s kind of hard to type because I’m still giggling like a school girl when I try to think about various things. Hell, I can barely even remember rolling my eyes when they went through almost every single transformation sequence in turn.

First the big moment for Natsuru’s testicles to finally drop, then the good guys transformed into their battle-damage versions while all the animals sang to the tune of the ode to joy. And the show ended on all the girls kissing Natsuru and then forcing his hand into their nether regions. Butt, bust, and beyond. It was possibly the most surreal thing I’ve seen in months, and that’s counting Kiddy Girl’s rather brief trysts with reality. And that’s without SPACE KAMPFERS! I was really certain that that whole bit was a joke, but then the punchline never came. The only joke really, were the white Kampfers. Man, were they pathetic. Four of them… one-shot by the three good guys. That’s awful. At least Evil-Sakura cleaned house after that, even if she couldn’t get Shizuku without the cheapshot by Natsuru.

So, it wasn’t much of an ending. Nothing was really resolved, and all the Whites (plus Sakura) ran off to fight another day. I think they’re just keeping the door open for a sequel. They sort of threw together some half-baked "Natsuru’s better as a girl" motivation for Evil-Sakura, but I don’t buy it for a moment. Still, this was kind of a surprise. Next week’s "finale" is marked as an "Extra Episode" and looks like it’s going off into true filler zone. I’ve given up trying to understand how this show goes. I’ll reserve my final impressions for next week.

Time to cosplay… more.

    What an odd final battle…

  • Fate says:

Wow just wow. I am also still laughing. I might even watch this episode again.

  • redlupine says:

wait… so Sakura really was an evil mastermind?

damn this show just gained many brownie points in my view

    • BassGS says:

It was pretty obvious when you look back. Atleast to me any way.

      • redlupine says:

I was honestly expecting someone else to show up and take credit for what Sakura is doing. And once defeated, the status quo would return.

  • DoubleA says:

    Ultimate pimp……:)

  • Rawr says:

Well, this was an all around horrible episode. How it failed to garner more cynicism and sarcasm from you is amazing, Aroduc.

The episode had value in the fact that it’s one of the most ridiculous and demeaning anime endings in anime history. I don’t think I’ve quite seen an ending reaching such epic levels of omgwtfbbq.

  • AsiaFan says:

Maybe the anime needs to follow the light novels or the manga version. Heck, I think every anime needs to follow their original counterpart.

  • asdf says:

And so the truth is brought to light.

ps. don’t bother with the novels, they arent that worth it ether.

  • Gin says:

I was really amused by this. There is no way I could ever take it seriously.

So yeah, I really enjoyed it.

  • Fate says:

I had to watch it again. Ode to joy is hilarious. Also I love the line Shizuku says “Men may cheat but he will always return to me.” Hell yes I would return for that. I would even rereturn for that.

  • TP says:

This show has been utterly “WTF?!”.

Once the laughs has settled, I am truly disgusted by the ill-treatment of the show. I want to anticipate a good conclusion to the Evil-Sakura sidestory, but instead I get a Team-Rocket-esque retreat. WHAT IS THIS I DON’T EVEN.

I seriously want to relegate this show along with Ikkitousen and the ilk: Burn it with not a Zauber, but the Holy Flame of the Emperor.

  • majestix1988 says:

    maybe just introduction season basis……

just wish for more next season to be more active

if not oh well…find some anime

  • Nanaya says:

I have to say, I enjoyed this FAR more than I would have if they played the series straight and did some sort of final shounen showndown or whatever.

You couldn’t find a more inane ending if you tried, but it was somehow completely awesome – it somehow managed to throw my intolerance for Natsuru’s utter stupidity throughout the entire series right out of my mind. I’m still laughing trying to process what just happened.

  • […] segment, cannot justify the many facepalms, sighs and flamethrowers I want to throw at this series. Others take it in their slide; this guy had it […]

  • DoubleA says:

The harem ending that Ken from seitokai no ichizon always aiming for and work hard for it and this guy Natsuru did nothing to archived it ………. I really feel sorry for Ken :)

  • Xgen says:

wow this is the ultimate way to troll.
thankfully i never picked this up past the first episode so i wont be one of the many people left scratching their heads in wonder/shock and hoping for some kind of resolution for the plot.
though hats of to the writers of this for having the balls to troll the fan base they managed to build up.

  • iRathiest says:

Rather disappointing ending, no? Assuming this IS the end, of course. Damned 12 episode animes. Never give time for the watchers to digest everything and they always have the crappiest endings.

What the hell was that…that…odd light-show from our 3 main heroines (Natsuru doesn’t count as a heroine)? Do they WANT us to fall over laughing?

    • Nanaya says:

I dunno, I really enjoyed some 12-13 episode series (kurenai, for example). It seems to have a lot to do with the pacing and directing, though.

That said, apparently the anime industry really lacks skilled staff in those departments…

  • There were plenty of revelations, really, but they were soooo not-funny-at-all that it wasn’t even worth waiting for these disclosure. It was all unfolded at such a little amount of time, it almost didn’t say anything!

To me it was the worst episode. I liked she series until episode then, but I was also watching because I wanted to know the reason why they fight and who Sakura was and stuff but when it was poorly explained… It didn’t even explain who the hell Sakura is, really!
