Dragon Crisis! #04 — Saint George and the Dragon
January 31st, 2011
Well, St. George’s dragon was more like a scaley chicken.
Impressions:
Meh. I’m not a huge fan of this little arc, but at least it looks like next week should be fairly action packed. The main issue I have is that it’s impossible to take George seriously as an antagonist. He’s a buffoon. I can already see him losing because he slipped on some ice that he created himself. They certainly didn’t help matters by packing a bunch more unneeded technobabble into the episode either. We’re already up to "Level Ten Breakers." Aren’t we supposed to progress through the other levels first?
Anyway, white dragon Marga appears and needs Ryuuji to step in and deal with "Bloody George," an idiot dragon hunter that doesn’t actually believe in dragons with a magical sword called Ice Rage that she needs, because yada yada dragons and humans hate each other. The rest of the episode is basically filler of Ryuuji’s previously unseen friends yelling at the screen and really obnoxious music blaring in the background. This episode had a lot of volume related issues in general, especially Rose’s ear piercing tantrums at the start. Ryuuji’s friends popping in out of nowhere to hit on Marga by yelling at her just made the crap cupcake worse. This show really needs to just excise all characters that do not have magical powers or magical weapons. Preferably Ryuuji too for that matter. What would be wrong with Rose snuggling up to Eriko’s marshmallows instead?

I’d snuggle up to her marshmallows.
