Freezing #02 — Random Acts of Censorship

January 14th, 2011

I literally have no idea what I am (not) seeing there.

Impressions:

Meh. They’re not even trying with these characters. Bridget’s personality is a blushing ditzy airhead whenever Kazuya is within 5 feet and Kazuya continues to have daydreams about his sister in nothing but panties while harassing the girl who had her eye gouged out because of him. At least she continued to have fewer than five lines an episode. Plus, the production took a huge drop in just about every way this week. Most of the fight scene was like watching some random cheap RPG stock animation attacks. Toss up speedlines or some other kind of flashy background, have the character swing their weapon around, then cut away to the other character getting hit by invisible things from off-screen. Great. We’ve downgraded to Dragon Warrior.

It also didn’t help that after the long long intro to the world last week intermixed with all the random violence this went basically nowhere. They spent multiple minutes having Squinty whisper to Kazuya about how much trouble Bridget was before she stumbled into the scene on the shiniest CG bus I’ve seen in awhile and Ganessa picked a fight with her. The two of them spent more time posturing than actually doing anything though. The animators did amusingly forget to draw Bridget’s blade a few times, so there was that to chuckle about at least. Well, and Kazuya getting backhanded, causing blood to somehow splatter upwards a few feet onto Bridget without actually causing any harm to him. The physics of Freezing continue to be a strange and unwieldy beast.

Subtle, Freezing. Real subtle.

This is about as good as the manga. Or as bad. Either way it works.

Wow at that last image in the preview. It is hard to tell if it’s censoring his face or it’s actually something emitting light.

    • Aroduc says:

He’s just powering up or something. Screaming and glowing at any rate. It’s not a great cap.

  • rozen123 says:

just looked at ep 2 screenshots. Are you f*king serious? Did they just completely cut the pandora power suit from the show?!!! WTF!!

  • Setsuna says:

This season is becoming increasingly predictable and boring… with more Panty-shot’s and Loli’s XP. I want Fate/Zero Anime and Mahou Tsukai no Yoru!!!!!

    • Nanaya says:

Also looking forward to F/Z but am unsure about it. Its’ quality will probably be based on the timeslot. Depending on that, they could censor a lot of it, not including Caster’s… everything. Although I don’t particularly want to see Maiya’s past being animated. Hrk.

  • Anonymous says:

    LOL……No powersuit? SERIOUSLY GUYS!? FFFFF—–

  • Nanaya says:

I find it funny that out of everything, it’s the lack of powersuits where people are finally having negative reactions. I couldn’t get past the horrible handling of plot/character/story elements that it’s based on.

  • Ninja Penguin says:

aww…they got rid of the powersuits that have played virtually no important part in the manga…meh…no big loss imho.

But we do gain radiaoactive boobs, and atomic titties in exchange lol.

    • Benigmatica says:

You’re maybe right, but they need some new clothes that it so striperrific, yet powerful!

    • rozen says:

Um, they do. but only after against one of the newer antagonists. pandora suits >>>> SSJ glow.
