Freezing #03 — “Enjoying With a Lot of Me”

January 21st, 2011

Silly AT-X and their non-widescreen broadcast.

Impressions:

It’s amazing to me that after over an hour of the show, Bridget still has yet to break 5 lines an episode. Kaho is also far too adorable and good-spirited to be in this school for psychopaths. I’m not even sure why a little cut set Miyabi off like that. They need to find a better balance between the girls having their eyes gouged out and becoming mentally unhinged from getting scratched. I did laugh at her knifing Bridget to interrupt the awful shot of her and Kazuya reaching to each other to… I don’t even know what since apparently contact was not necessary for him to shake off the harem-hold. I also enjoyed seeing that the males in this show have heads apparently more dense than concrete.

Speaking of the harem-assisted bisexual molestation, most of this episode was concerned with introducing the Freezing mechanic, finally giving Kazuya a point. Not much of a point mind you, since he has the magical deus ex "I’m awesome" genes and can apparently overcome an entire harem of upper-classmen without any training whatosever… aaaaand all the power does is remove action from the show, but maybe they’ll think of something interesting to do with it. And maybe pigs will fly. As long as they can keep up the relatively decent action week in and week out and keep Kazuya on the side of hilariously terrible instead of just plain terrible, I think I’m content though. Low expectations and the promise of more eye-gouging also help.

Ingrid vs Bridget.

I still don’t get why AT-X seems to be the last broadcast station that refuses to convert to widescreen. Is it because they openly show nipples in their shows?

  • man0warr says:

I doubt it’s up to them, AT-X aired plenty of widescreen shows last season.

  • Mesousa says:

They only do it to the ARMS shows, with the exeption of Samurai Girls.

  • shadow says:

they can show niples, tits, ass
they are fighting and the clothes are cuts.
    here the fanservice have reason.
too in these last episodes have not many violence as the first episode.

  • shadow says:

in the last 2 episodes the violent is low, then is change to queen’s blade ( only fanservice and 0% violent)
    more episodes = queen’s blade.

  • Jack says:

Keith Olbermann is not watching this show.

  • alex says:

    this was fun
Genessa is such a tsundere :)

  • Trolol says:

Well if the show follows the manga fanservice will go down quite a bit, and girls getting their limbs cut off will increase 200%.

  • chad001 says:

Dammit, I completely agree with how Kazuya how is an action-breaker: in the original, he stops her AFTER she stabs Miyabi with the giant sword. It was quite entertaining to read. Actually, anime-Kazuya in general just seems more fail in general, I think it’s cause they’re trying to fit him better into the innocent-shota trope, but he’s so much better in the manga, he actually appears badass occasionally, and this series’ psycho eyes fit him REALLY well.

and each new episode is more queen’s blade.
