Dragon Crisis! #11 — “Dragon Crisis”

March 21st, 2011

Every time a show uses its title in an episode, I die a little more inside.

Impressions:

Meh. This arc certainly isn’t getting any better. Ryuuji seems to have completely reverted to his crappy original self and after Onyx tells him that Rose’s sickness is some dragon thing, Ryuuji begs him to save Rose and then dumps her into the antagonists’ hands. And yes, they seriously referred to it as a "Dragon Crisis." Of course, nobody else cares about this at all. Heck, even the society SWAT team pins Ryuuji down the moment Rose is gone and then proceeds to let him off. Maybe he had a very stern talking to from Society’s head school marm. That’ll learn ‘im.

Basically all the rest was Ryuuji and Rose fumbling around awkwardly for the first half, and Misaki talking while the animators took the day off early in the second. Well, they didn’t exactly put much effort into the first half either. The entire episode was one of the cheapest that this show has had, and it wasn’t really all that well made to begin with. After the first five minutes or so, almost the entire rest of the episode was unmoving talking heads. The nearly minute-long slow zoom out of Misaki and Ryuuji on the rooftop was just plain painful.

Anyway, I can’t wait for Marga to reveal that Onyx wasn’t entirely truthful (what a surprise that’ll be) before Ryuuji and the mod squad go off to save her from Onyx… again. Onyx who now lives in a vial. Fantastic.

Preview:

Snap his neck, Marga.

This show had potential. This show HAD potential. Where did it all go wrong? Oh yeah… once they made that pussy the main character.

YOU KNOW ANOTHER DRAGON YOU DUMB FUCK!!! CAN’T YOU JUST GET MARGA, YOU KNOW SHE’S ONE OF THE GOOD GUYS.

  • Nanaya says:

What I can’t figure out is how dragons are supposed to be legendary, mythical or extinct in this world. I mean, they reveal themselves and their abilities at the drop of a pin and cause more daily property damage than a jump protagonist.

It would have to be less of that organization manipulating media and information and more of them being made entirely up of freaking Harry Potter/MIB mass memory removers.

  • Anise_Punter says:

Why is it when I read Onyx lives in a vial I immediately thought back to the Time-Space Administration Bureau and their jar-brains?

  • Aex says:

This is one of those episodes you can skip outright and miss absolutely nothing, especially since you know everything important will be re-explained next episode anyways. Okay, MAYBE not the first half, but after around the 12 minute mark… *sigh*

Japan LOVES male leads, no matter how forgettable they freaking are than the rest of the cast.
