Code-E #01 – The Electric Boogaloo

July 3rd, 2007

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwnnnn…

Jesus… 5 posts in one day. Remind me to never do that again. Ugh.

Impressions:

This episode was so pastoral and slow that it nearly put me to sleep. There were a few parts when Ebihara’s power started going out of control where things started to perk up a little bit, but for the other 22 minutes… snoresville. Very sparse use of BGM, and what BGM was used mostly consisted of the twanging piano or banjo variety, which just seemed to stretch things out even longer.

There was just so little energy in the show for the first 18 minutes or so that it made it really difficult to stay interested. It was pretty enough, though didn’t even try to do anything interesting in term of visual styles, except for possibly the noseless guy in a world of nosed girls, but I’ve had my fill of the noseless with Umisho.

If the energy and pace pick up a bit as the OP suggests, this could be a decent show. It’s animated well enough and all the characters emote rather well, even if I find everybody but the lead’s little fan to be dull as moss. If it doesn’t pick up a bit though, then the RoD opening confuses the living fuck out of me as this has to be one of the most soporific shows I’ve seen in a long while.

Yea, by the time I got to this show I didn’t even think it was worth it. I was already burnt out after four xD. Besides, this show is way below standard compared to the other shows being offered on Tuesday.

One would be tempted to think that the cutest animated meganekko in a long while was quite enough…actually i still think it is enough for me.

  • Matt says:

If you’re relying on the opening to assist you predict the course of that show, it still could be spot on. After all, after the first ROD ep, the action died down and it did have episodes slowly drawn out.
