Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS #15 — What a Bitch!

Hooray for Ginga!

Impressions:

Rather good episode. Lots of revelations for the numbers and Ginga joins Riot 6. Hooray! New ED finally too, though I’m not much of a fan. I’ll upload the Ginga vs Subaru battle as soon as I finish the Moetan writeup, and as always, when a better raw comes up, I’ll update the caps. Caps updated.

Subaru vs Ginga

The Second ED

Summary:

We start by learning that Riot 6 has a couple new members, Ginga and Marie. Ginga will be joining the forwards temporarily, and Marie, who personally handled the Aces’ devices in the past is joining the tech department. Everybody splits up for their training, the Lightning go with Fate, Vita takes Teana and Nanoha sets Ginga and Subaru against eachother in a mock battle.

The two fight, but Subaru is immediately on the defensive. Ginga charges and attack, and Subaru tries to defend, but she breaks her shield and then Subaru takes a straight shot right to the gut… or so it seems. Subaru blocked the punch with her other hand and counters with a close range Revolver Cannon blasting Ginga backwards. Subaru tries to kick her, but Ginga evades and takes a Wing Road into the sky. The two clash a few more times in the air and are more evenly matched. Ultimately though, Ginga’s experience wins over Subaru’s explosiveness and she stops short of pounding in Subaru’s face. Ginga compliments her on how she fought though.

Afterwards, everybody has compliments on how Subaru is getting faster in her attacks and is nearly approaching Erio in sheer speed. Fate and Nanoha also are very impressed with Ginga’s performance and compliment her appropriately. They then say that the next training will be Ginga and the Cadets against all of the commanders and subcommanders. Ginga’s a bit shocked, but the cadets tell her that they’ve done it before and not to worry.

Elsewhere, in the girl’s bathroom, Vivio is getting cleaned up and for reasons we won’t go into, Zafira is in there with her.

Leaving that creepiness aside, we return to the aftermath of the cadets getting beaten down by the rest, though everybody’s pretty happy with how the sparring went. Ginga is especially impressed that they do this nearly every day. Eventually, Vivio wanders over looking for Nanoha and Fate while being escorted by lady killer and bathroom stalker Zafira.

Vivio runs up to Nanoha and Fate and falls on her face. Fate goes to help her, but Nanoha, ever the heartless bitch, stops her and tells Vivio to get up on her own and keep running to her. Man… what a bitch. Vivio nearly starts to cry, but Fate’s ovaries take over and she trots over to help her up. Nanoha tells Fate that she’s spoiling Vivio, but Fate doesn’t really care.

As a side note, the music for the eyecatch was some kind of terrible synth riff. Who the fuck gave the StrikerS staff a synth?

Everybody’s heading off to get lunch, with Erio carring the world’s largest salad. Vivio isn’t being a good girl and won’t finish her greens. Caro is busy still hitting on Erio as well. Eventually, everybody disperses to do their own boring daily tasks.

Over at the TSAB HQ, Regius is preparing for a meeting with the top three admirals as we’re treated to tinkling chime music. Good ol’ blowhard is getting another rundown about Riot 6 from his evil secretary. He basically says that he wants concrete evidence of misbehavior before he comes forward with a complaint. She tells him that other people from the TSAB are also snooping around internally before checking in with a subordinate about a delayed ‘Einherjar’ (Norse term for warriors recruited by the Valkyrie) project.

There’s also a brief echoy meeting between three numbered screens that is rather generically plotty and evil. Subaru and Ginga are also due for their checkup, so they strip and get on the table.

Over in the cave of numbers, they’re getting their upgrades. Apparently Euno’s arm is cybernetic, so probably most of them are. We also see about four more numbers in tubes and they mention another few more. They also talk about the Gadget Drones, but say that they aren’t worth naming and are garbage… as are themselves, though Sein says that she likes having a name.

Scaglietti is tuning up some new numbers. Nove doesn’t really give a shit what’s going on though, she just wants to know what kind of person the ‘King’ is who will be leading them. Scaglietti turns back to his army of bots and laughes like the true insane villain that he is.

Over at the TSAB Convenience Store, Subaru is feeding Ginga chocolate by hand. Ginga really has Subaru trained well. The two talk about Ginga joining the squad and how they’re looking forward to fighting together and becoming more powerful. Ginga turns serious for a moment though and asks if they’re really serious about going up against the enemy. Eventually, Marie picks her up and Subaru also feeds Marie chocolate. Maybe it’s Subaru who is training them.

The three Aces are having a meeting where they talk about how the prophecy has been decoded a bit more and it’s clear that a meeting in a week is going to be attacked. Riot 6 will be there, but they’re not entirely certain that they’ll be completely prepared for it.

10 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

  • Kaito says:

What are the chances of seeing Ginga die and then having Subaru inherit the other device?

  • ichibaka says:

*slaps you with a baka harisen for suggesting that*

  • Ronin says:

Ginga has earned a few ‘death flags’ this week. Look at the ‘ED’, anyone who doesn’t show up will DIE in episode 17. (Fate, Hayate + her knights, Ginga, Chrono, etc)

Vivio will become the ‘King’ as she is the container, and she will kills everyone.

Subaru will inherits Ginga’s device, Nanoha will inherit Bardiache and get a new transformation with her duo wielding staff and scythe.

  • -aka- says:

Hmm… i think i’m reading too much in to the vibes… but i somehow get the feeling that Ginga is going to betray them… >_

Err, Fate and Hayate both are in the new ED so that’s a strange theory… The new ED is very much all about Nanoha apparently, I can’t decide if the instances of showing loli Nanoha were for a reason or were thrown in to appease the lolicon fans of the first two series. :P Still, it seems to only show the people most closely associated with Nanoha — herself, Fate, Hayate, and the main newbies (Caro, Erio, Tia and Subaru). (I suppose they’re in there because she’s done most of their training.)

I also get the feeling that Ginga may betray them, I don’t really know why, but something bothers me about her. :(

  • Algent says:

We never saw any direct death in nanoha and I don’t think it will change, it’s a kid show afterall but I think too ginga will be hurt (revolver knuckles was a 2handed device of ginga sister and subaru mother so there is an high probability of the 2parts réunion in the future)

(by the way, arufu is dead or not ? I only saw her in the manga strikers (take place between a’s and the anime))

And sorry for my english, i’m french ;)

  • Tokkan says:

    > We never saw any direct death in nanoha and I don’t think it will change, it’s a kid show afterall

Kids shows don’t air at 1 o’clock in the morning.

    > Kids shows don’t air at 1 o’clock in the morning.

We also saw Fate’s mom die in the first season, although she was sorta sucked into a magical vortex thingy.

  • Aroduc says:

I think it’s a law of anime that whenever there are two halves of something, they will eventually become whole. This means that poor Ginga’s time is probably limited, so enjoy her while you can. :-(

Also, let’s not forget that Reinforce Ein took the Terminator 2 route at the end of A’s as well.
