I’d watch a Ninja Kyo and Princess Nene yuri spinoff.

Impressions:

The slowest episode so far, but still fairly entertaining. All the Valentines Day stuff was pretty fun, but sick Potemayo was lame and uninteresting in comparison. Nene’s daydreams about Kyosama ga Miteru and Ninja Kyo were pretty hilarious though. Still, minimal Guchuko makes me very very sad. At least next episode features more delicious casual-wear Kyo.

I may be switching to brief coverage mode of this show next week and onward since there’s not much of a plot anyway, and Tokyo Majin restarts today. We’ll see what my Fridays are like though.

 

Summary:

Fastforwarding to Valentines Day, we get a quick history of it and St Valentine before things start. At least until the narrator cuts it off.

Kyo and Mikan arrange to meet up later, and Nene gets all cranky about being left out. Later in class, Mutou is fantasizing about giving Potemayo chocolates and getting a kiss in response and collapses in a bloody mess on his desk.

Kyo is walking into a church when an underclassman girl gives her a box of chocolates. Kyo thanks her, but… the girl already knows that Kyo doesn’t feel the same way as her. Nene is fantasizing about Valentine situations like this and others out loud while Guchuko watches on from overhead.

Out shopping, Potemayo is suddenly drawn towards the chocolates and starts yipping at them. Once Sunao checks them out, she senses something else and leaps to a chocolate bar held by the random candy man from last episode. Sunao tries to explain Valentines briefly to Potemayo, but she gets stuck on “cho” and starts flipping out.

Later at home, she’s still spazzing out at Sunao’s father, chanting “cho nao ni” and other such nonsense. He misunderstands her and leaves, so she bites his ass on the way out and gets dragged along. Eventually, he ends up buying this freaky mask and Potemayo puts it on and they continue on. They even pass Mutou who is trying to ask some salesgirl what chocolate would best seduce Potemayo. At home, Sunao’s father is off on another journey and has left Potemayo and the freaky mask for him.

Valentines day finally comes, and all the girls are handing out their chocolates. Mikan hides her’s in Sunao’s desk and leaves another for a passed out Potemayo, but the chicken immediately eats it.

In an Edo period, ninjas invade a pagoda. Ninja Kyo fights and defeats them all and then during her dying breath, she confesses her love for feudal princess Nene. Yup, another weird Valentines story from Nene. Kyo walks up with chocolates for Guchuko, but Nene has been totally unaware that she was even there.

Mutou is running around, trying to practice giving chocolate to Potemayo. Nene is sitting right there though, so she takes it from him. Heading back indoors, Nene has enslaved Mutou into carrying all her stuff.

At home, Potemayo doesn’t want to eat anymore from all the chocolate. His father shows up, but gets immediately kicked outside.

New eyecatches this week too with the extended cast for the first, and Guchuko napping for the second.

On the flipside, Sunao wakes up, but Potemayo is sneezing and coughing and generally ill. She’s a bit feverish as well, but doesn’t want to be left behind, and ends up slobbering all over Sunao. He gives her some vaporub (oi….), but that makes her start dancing for some reason before collapsing into a blob again.

He tucks her back in and prepares to head off to school. She chases him and seizes his shoes to prevent him from leaving, but he takes off anyway. On the way to school, Mikan says how it’s sad that she’s sick and his father is in Africa, so can’t take care of her.

She’s still sickly at home when the exercise music comes on. She drags herself out of bed and starts doing her weird dance until it ends.

At school, Mikan tells Kyo and Nene that Potemayo is sick today. Sunao wanders off while they’re talking about it. At home, Potemayo is going through tissues faster than a 16 year old discovering Playboy for the first time. She finally runs out and the chicken uses itself to cover her nose.

At school, everybody is a little weirded out by the fact that Potemayo is missing, so he decides to head home. Kyo gives him some treats for Potemayo, and Nene offers to let him borrow Mutou.

In a dream, Potemayo smells food as her stomach grumbles. She runs over to eat a peach… but it’s really the chicken. She also dreams of being pulled by a rabbit in a harness… which is the chick dragging her by her snot. Ew. Just ew. He third dream is of Sunao disappearing in front of her, but then reappearing to hug her. She jumps into his arms.

Sunao has just arrived home to the mess and finds Potemayo in the laundry… wrapped in his boxers. She’s ecstatic to have him home, and he hugs her and thinks about how warm she is as he starts to fall asleep.

The rest of the gang shows up with fruits and food for them, though poor Mutou and his buddy get locked out and are forced to pretend like they’re part of the group through the window.
