Ladies and gentlemen, let’s get ready to rumbbbbbbblllllllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Maidens of the Kaleidoscope, the everlasting phoenix of English Touhou fansites, is hosting the first ever Touhou Seimoe, which is a rather silly pun on ‘west’ (Sei), but we can just pretend that it’s a pun on Seiha (conquest) instead. Puns! Ha ha! If you’re not familiar with the original Saimoe, it started on 2chan as a voting contest to find the "moe-est" anime character for that year and has since sort of declined into a six month mess of red tape for what boils down to a simple popularity contest. It’s kind of sad that between its start and finish, around 60 new shows will air in their entirety. There have been Touhou Saimoes too. Yuyuko won the first one, beating out Patch (China and Reimu being knocked out in the final four), and China topped Sakuya in the second one (Yukari and Flandre round out the top 4). In more recent (non-tournament styled) popularity polls, though… Marisa has been steadily in the top few places.

Anyway, I’ve been recruited to host the actual combat arena for this shit to throw down, which means that Sakuya and China have the home town advantage, if you catch my drift. Things kick off on Monday, though there are exhibition matches for the Mountain of Faith characters going on now. I’ll do my best to keep the sidebar up to date, and who knows, there may even be a tournament pick ’em in the works once we make it out of the prelims. It’ll all be over in a month, so don’t worry about the endless stretching on and on of the real Saimoe. I’ll also be adding the daily match to the sidebar as well, and I am not above making another image dump or eight to make sure that my girls reach the top.
