Ultimate Survivor Kaiji #13 — Electrifying

Impressions:

This is more like it. They’re actually in a life or death situation here and are succumbing to the pressures of it. It’s not okay to cry because humanity is weak, it is okay to cry when you’re freezing your asses off some 20 stories above the ground on an electrified girder. I’m still of the opinion that things are needlessly stretched out and the narration is just a biiiiit overzealous, but I’m prepared to accept that as part and parcel of the Kaiji experience. They’re at least in an actually dangerous situation this time instead of failure meaning that they’re minorly inconvenience. The pacing still feel laborous at best, especially when this is the second time in three weeks that they’ve ended an episode with the whole group in tears standing on a beam. The peptalk/rehash through most of the first half just felt recycled, but the second half picked up nicely. If they moved this along a little faster, I’d be pleased as punch. Ah well. No other major complaints, aside from Madhouse still needing to learn consistency. I swear that the beam changed widths in every single shot. Silly animators not paying attention.

    that’s 1 down, 7 more to go ^_^

but damn, falling from that height… if you hit the ground you’d be squished like a tomato xD

Seriously, dont even try to miss the point by focusing on the Korean animators. Finals checks didnt ask them to be changed since it really isnt meant to be a big deal

  • VG / Bl says:

    And just another thing

    “minorly inconvenienced”

I thing this pretty much epitomizes why you didnt “get” the past arc…. being debted for years (and in reality, not coming back) is not even close to “minorly inconvenienced”

And the latter option of being taken away…..ala forced labor…..medical experiment, sex slave, or manual labor, then…..that would make you a masochist this world has yet to see.

In Kaiji world, this is all rule of the norm, of course, not openly. You believe there is a world out there (in Kaiji world) that allows for skyscraper bridge crossing, so why not those, right?
