Impressions:

This was quite a bit better than I was expecting it to be, but Kaoru’s family is almost as annoying as she can be. At least they’re nice to look at, even if they’re not the brightest bulbs in the world. I find it interesting (and telling) that Kaoru ogles them as well, at least while they’re on good terms. It’s probably the Kyouran Kazoku Nikki reflux talking though because I am really really tired of the whole "FAMILY IS GREAT" motif for Saturdays. We had nearly escaped it in KKN, but then it was a sledgehammer this week here. Oh well.

Sorry for being brief, but I’m on my way out the door. Next week is Shiho’s family, and she seems to be on at least better terms with her family, even if her dad is kind of creepy looking. Since Shiho is by far my favorite of the trio (but still doesn’t hold a candle to Naomi), I’m expecting good things.

Brief Summary:

While chilling at her real house, Kaoru is surprised by some home invaders and ends up levelling the entire city block. Around the same time, the girls get the school assignment to write about their families. Kaoru doesn’t want to, so she just fantasizes about Minamoto.

As it turns out, Kaoru’s mother and sister are both famous models/actresses and are on TV all the time. They’re a bit… man crazy over Minamoto though and immediately latch onto him, despite Kaoru’s annoyance. BABEL is in charge of rebuilding their new home, so the forces deploy, while Kaoru basically just sulks in the corner. Things eventually reach their boiling point after all their stuff is moved in and the Akashi women start making moves on Minamoto again. Kaoru snaps and starts yelling at them, but it’s Minamoto who slaps her and tells her to stop acting like a little brat. He gets psychic slammed into a wall and she runs off.

Kyosuke’s there to play the Dark Lord briefly, but the squirrel gets in the way by cracking lolicon jokes until Minamoto and the other two arrive to chase him off. At the same time, a minor psychic and his group of ne’er do wells attack the Akashi women and kidnap. BABEL tracks them down and the Children deploy… into an otaku convention. The guy kidnapped them to be part of his stage show. The girls pose and while embarrassed, still show off their skills a bit before psychic crushing the one responsible. The ordeal has made Kaoru learn how important the two are to her and they all go off to take a bath together.

Kaoru gives her report about her wonderful family to the class, including Minamoto, who she says "is going to make her into an adult." Poor Minamoto.
