World Destruction #02 — Sand Pirates!

July 14th, 2008

To be fair, apparently these ships sail on land and sea.

Impressions:

Just a quick little note to mention that I enjoyed this episode a lot less than last week’s episode. Less action, less humor, more pickpocket horsegirl waifs (at least, I think she’s supposed to be a horse) and we got introduced to the two villains, neither of which are all that interesting. Well, I guess I kind of like Leah, or whatever dragon girl’s name is supposed to be. She’s a little past the edge of sanity and a bit into the realm of out and out insane. I have to wonder why she even bothers with the pistols if she’s just going to chuck them aside the moment she runs out of bullets and transform into something with giant horns, wings, and an even worse attitude. Of course, one look at Kirie and she immediately fell for him.

Man, that scene was terrible. One moment she’s all snarling incoherent rage, and the next moment, she’s blushing and letting them escape. Kirie didn’t even do anything except cower. Her boss/partner Naja is just your stereotypical arrogant low level villain. I have every confidence that he’ll be betrayed by his superiors and/or come to sympathize with Morte’s team eventually.

So, yeah… this episode was nowhere near as good as the first, and I wasn’t really sold on this one to begin with. Besides, I’d much rather watch eletrical girls in power suits.

Preview:

Morte mugs a dog person.

GAWD… One Piece already did the whole Sand Pirates theme. And it did it much better I’m sure.

There is no such thing as a ‘good’ sand pirate.
