Slayers REVOLUTION #04 — JUSTICE AND FRIENDSHIP

TRIUMPH!

Impressions:

Pretty much completely devoid of plot and such, but an absolutely hilarious episode centered mostly around Amelia going on one of her justice kicks. The only thing that could have made it better would have been if Phil had made a rare guest appearance for a Pacifist Punch or some such. Oh well, we can’t have it all. Wait, Xellos shows up next week… we can have it all. I admit to doing a little fist pump on seeing him in the preview after laughing through most of the episode. I’m weak and predictable like that.

Pretty much start to finish was hilarious. The whole "Lina in a magical thingy" was sort of a rehash of one of the movies, but at least this time it was some kind of crazy unicycle contraption instead of mecha-chibi-Lina. The lack of Naga also helped. It was good to see Amelia flying off the handle again and back to her old JUSTICE AND FRIENDSHIP ways. Zel seemed a little more… unhinged this episode than his usual taciturn self, but I suppose one of his methods did eventually work. He gets props for poisoning the little rat too, even if it led to Amelia healing it and then weird stuffed animal blushing.

I have little else to say about this episode really. It was classic Amelia comedy done excellently, and I ate all of it up.

Super Brief Summary:

Lina and Gourry declared genocide on small animals of the wilderness in their quest for Pocota (or however you spell it), and once Lina convinced Zel that the furball might be able to cure his body (he did make a semi-Sword of Light after all), Zell got involved too, though his methods were more or less as destructive. After Zel somewhat lost his mind setting traps and actually managed to capture the little bugger, Amelia decided that it was on the side of justice and did her whole "stand on a tree and give a speech" routine.

Gourry and Lina had their own plans to lure the little bugger out, by making a fake Gourry Powered magical tank and rampaging through a city until he appeared, at which point Amelia and Pocotta teamed up against it while Lina had her pride on the line and fought back as much as possible, nearly nuking Amelia if not for Pocotta’s replica Sword of Light. The tag team eventually won thanks to the limitations of the silly tank, but the town was still destroyed and Pocotta flew off with Lina in hot pursuit.

It’s… a… secret!

OH GOD XELLOS FAP FAP FAP FAP F-Wait…

  • I do believe they’re drawing Amelia’s breasts larger than before.

Classic filler, Slayers style = Epic LOL

I love how this series is completely intended for fans. Newcomers would go “WTF? Chimera, what?” at the Zelgadis reference among other tidbits of important info thrown here and there. On that note, Amelia’s fists are the toughest weapons on the Overworld if they can beat the crap out of Zelgadis with such ease. Let us remember that CANNONS at point blank do no more than scratch Zel.

I get the feeling that Pokota is a bit like all the newcomers to Slayers watching the gang’s antics, being in a permanent state of WTF-ness.

Xelloss back next week!! Finally some plot advancement, well hopefully. How his appeareance will change the pacing of the story, well….”sore wa himitsu desu”
