Yes, yes. I’m aware that it exists, and that it has a tanuki. Yada yada, etc etc. I’m still waiting for the Touhou leprechaun. It’ll keep until I have a day free where I haven’t spent most of the evening staring at Photoshop.

Oh yeah, the demo is out now. I figured some people would be interested or something. It’s a little disappointing to see recycled characters, but it’s honestly a lot of the side-features from IN that are making their return that interest me the most. Hopefully there’ll be a few new nice remixes of some of the old classic songs too… or at least fewer zombie shrine maidens.

There’s still a relative dearth of information from Zun about it, but look at all those meters! What is it with this Reitaisai and Touhou games with buttloads of meters? I’ll admit that I was hoping for another Vs Shooter ala PoFV, but whatever. At least now I can make jokes about Touhou TD. Its demo will be out at Reitaisai on March 13thish.

Just because I know that people are curious about the new mechanics for TH12.⑨… here you go. Chain freezing bullets, more or less as expected, but Cirno actually has a shot too. That may be the most surprising thing. Original from here, complete in its resplendent 40 frames per second. This also counts as my obligatory post announcing that I am well aware that it’s out. Now if you’ll excuse me, I was in the middle of translating… well… let’s just say that I’ll be more than happy to be done with it and hopefully never have to be involved with a two-headed goat nightmare ever again.

Not a ‘real’ new entry in the series, but another new Touhou game from Shanghai Alice due out at Summer Comiket next month. Apparently it’s some kind of bizarre survival game centered around a very fat Cirno seeking revenge against the other minor fairies by freezing their bullets. Oooookay. I think Zun’s alcohol poisoning is starting to affect his mind. It’s probably just an excuse to have someone else redraw Sunny Milk et all. Oh well. Hopefully it doesn’t mean that he’s creating an alternate ice fairy like he did for Aya with Double Spoiler. The world doesn’t need more Cirnos.

In case you hadn’t caught the news, the next Touhou game is going to be essentially a sequel to Shoot the Bullet called Double Spoiler. Is Zun trying to port this series to the DS or something? Touhou DS… terrifying. Well, I can’t really care too much since I really wasn’t a fan of the first STB, but c’est la vie.

I think I’ll just start going through all my assorted shelved doujin news a little bit at a time to stretch it out instead of just one big C77 post. It’ll give me something (else) to do over the break to break up the tedium of my family slowly driving me crazy. Anyway, first up is one of the games I’m most looking forward to for the upcoming Comiket, a rougelike from Aquastyle. It’s interesting that Aquastyle would make a game like this instead of an SRW styled game given all their previous work, but I like rougelikes too, so I’m not complaining. Touhou’s certainly already a series filled with enough player death anyway. What’s a few thousand more lives lost?

I am so not in the mood to separate the wheat from the chaff tonight. Something about princesses, sailors, and China fighting a whale. Or something. I’ll deal with it once the kerfuffle (44 points + double word score + 50 for over 7 letters) settles, likely tomorrow midday or so.

Fettgans at Doujinsuki over in Franceland apparently more patience or drive than I do and has been compiling a preview list of ]the upcoming games at Comiket as well. Of note is his list of the Touhou themed ones that I didn’t find wading through 50 pages of random other Touhou stuff to track down.
